| Dear Fans, Hello Baseball Fans and Welcome to the first FCCJBL email of 2011. Hoping you've had a great holiday season and new year and are ready to start thinking about baseball. REGISTRATION FOR 2011 IS NOW OPEN The schedule has been made, the web-site updated and new registration and sponsorship forms are now ready for you to kick-off the 2011 FCCJBL season. This will be my 7th season running the league and I am really looking forward to another great year. We will again have a big-time championship day pre-game program, our awards breakfast and a trip to see the Bridgeport Bluefish play. I hope you will be back and join in 2011 for all the fun and great activities. AED/DEFIBRILLATOR PURCHASE AND UP-COMING TRAINING Last summer the league purchased an AED or defibrillator to have on-site for all of our games. Many thanks to all the folks who helped to support our fund raising campaign over the last 2 seasons to make it a reality. Next up, is getting some coaches and parents trained in the use of an AED along with child and adult CPR. We have partnered with the local Stamford chapter of the American Red Cross and will have a training program planned for March 13th. We invite members of the larger Fairfield County Jewish community to participate. So many of our area organizations - synagogues, JCCs, and others have purchased these incredible life-saving devices. And while these AEDs can talk you through the process to save a life, very few people have been formally trained. And those who have been trained, could use a refresher. The program offered by the American Red Cross is 5 1/2 hours, includes adult and child AED and CPR training. A practical exam following the training will result in a 2-year certification. We will announce pricing shortly. Discounts will be provided to people who coached, sponsored or had children in the FCCJBL program in either 2010 or have registered for 2011. Additional discounts will be available for Jewish communal workers in the our area communities. For more information, please contact the Commish at seth@fccjbl.org. Anyone or any organization looking to sponsor this event to help defray our training costs should also contact the Commish at seth@fccjbl.org. 2011 SNACK BAR FAMILIES NEEDED Each year the FCCJBL has a volunteer Snack Bar family or families that run our snack bar usually as a Bar/Bat Mitzvah "Mitzvah Project". The mitzvah is two-fold. Mitzvah one is selling snacks and beverages at our games to keep our players, coaches, umpires and parents refreshing and on-hot days, hydrated. Mitzvah two is tzedakah (charity) where the profits from the sales are donated to a good cause. Anyone interested in finding out more, please contact the Commish at seth@fccjbl.org. UMPIRES FOR 2011 Returning umpires and those who want to umpire for the Majors and Minors in 2011 should contact us. This year we will limit games to 2 umpires and give game preferences based on seasons of experience umpiring in the FCCJBL. We will also have an umpires coordinator this year - Noah Marlowe. If you would like to umpire for us this season, please drop a note to Noah Marlowe at livetocatch31@aol.com. |
