FCCJBL Flash April 29, 2010 Dear FCCJBL, Hello Baseball Fans!!!! Let's all hope that the rain last Sunday is the last Sunday rain we see this season.  This Sunday should be back to baseball.  I expect we will have our uniform shirts for all the teams.  Please make sure to arrive 15 minutes to a half hour before game time so games can start on time.  Team rosters and coaches are on the website's team rosters page: www.fccjbl.org/rosters.htm. Major and Minor league coaches - please email your final scores to the Commish by Sunday evening. We do post scores and keep division standings. I will be sending out a separate email to all coaches with the master list of coaches with their emails and home phone number.   Please coordinate with other when you are not available for a given game. Also, all coaches MUST read and review league rules and the coaches code of conduct. Both are available on our league website: League Rules... Coaches Code of Conduct... Newfield School Fields We play all our games at Newfield Elementary School in Stamford.   The school is located at 345 Pepper Ridge Road.    The fields are located behind the school.   Parking is on the north part of the school. The "North Field" is designated for our Majors division.  The "South Field" is designated for our Minors division. The "Center" area is a huge grass area directly behind the school.  The T-Ball program plays on the south side of the Center field.  The Intro to T-Ball program plays on the north side of the Center field. Information on Newfield School can be found on their website at: www.newfieldschool.org Modell's Team Weeks Discounts  Modell's Team Weeks Once again, the FCCJBL has teamed up with Modell's Sporting Goods that benefits our families, players and the league.  The team weeks program gives our families a special FCCJBL/Modells coupon worth 15% discount on sporting goods and after the league families pass a threshold of spending, the league gets a 5% rebate.           Pick up your FCCJBL/Modells Team Weeks coupon by seeing the Commish.    Note - Modell's has graciously extended the 4-week window on these coupons until MAY 13th.  So you have plenty of time to still get your discounts and support the league. Umpires We have a great of set of umpires for this years Major and Minor league games.  The staff includes: Nat Samberg, Jason Wohlberg, Lev Podelko, Noah Marlowe, Jackie Liesman and Emillie Pollack. Please be kind to our men and women in blue.  Umps should see their assignments on the schedule page of the league website. Uniforms Our team shirts should be in and ready for everyone this Sunday.  Baseball pants are on order and may or may not arrive in time for this Sunday.  Snack Bar For the last several years, the FCCJBL has had a Snack Bar run by 1 or 2 families as a bnei mitzvah "mitzvah project" with all proceeds from the sales going to the family's charity of choice.   This year, Zach Mendes-Barry along with his mom Rica, grandparents Richard and Ruth Mendes, sister Ariella and Snack Bar assistants Rina Marlowe and Rebecca Morgenthaler will be manning the Snack Bar. Zach is working on multiple mitzvah projects to raise funds for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.  THE SNACK BAR WILL BE OPEN THIS SUNDAY! FCCJBL Flash April 25, 2010 Dear FCCJBL, Hello Baseball Fans!!!! RAIN ALERT Due to overnight rain, continuing rain this morning and a forecast of rain all day today, we are canceling today's games due to the rain.   Even if the rain were to stop later this morning or early in the afternoon, the fields would not be in good enough shape nor safe enough to play on. We will resume next Sunday, May 2nd with our regularly scheduled games.  Later today, there will be some tweaks to the team rosters per some of the requests that we have received.  The team rosters page on the league website: www.fccjbl.org/rosters.htm. Modell's Team Weeks Discounts  Modell's Team Weeks Once again, the FCCJBL has teamed up with Modell's Sporting Goods that benefits our families, players and the league.  The team weeks program gives our families a special FCCJBL/Modells coupon worth 15% discount on sporting goods and after the league families pass a threshold of spending, the league gets a 5% rebate.           If you have not received your Modell's team weeks coupon, you can stop by the Commish's house (154 Pepper Ridge Rd - House 5) and pick one up from the from porch.  With the rain today, its a great time to go shopping for all your FCCJBL and other sporting goods needs.     Note - the coupons can re-used - you need only one.  The coupons have an expiration date and we are working with Modell's to extend the coupons for a week or 2. FCCJBL Flash April 23, 2010 Dear FCCJBL, Hello Baseball Fans!!!! I hope everyone enjoyed our Opening Day practice last Sunday. This Sunday is Opening Day 2 - when we actually start the games, have all the equipment and for our major and minor leaguers, the scores count.  Please arrive 15 minutes to a half hour before game time so games can start on time.  The teams and coaching assignments have been finalized. You can see the team rosters and coaches on the league website's team rosters page: www.fccjbl.org/rosters.htm. The final game-by-game schedule has been posted as well on the website: www.fccjbl.org/schedule.htm. Major and Minor league parents and coaches - please note that games may be at 1:30 pm or 3:00 pm on any given Sunday.  With only 2 diamonds and 3 games that must be played each Sunday, 2 teams will always have a 3:00 pm game.  Keep reading for some very important announcements... FCCJBL Flash April 16, 2010 Dear FCCJBL, Hello Baseball Fans!!!! Opening Day is here. We've been very busy preparing for the 2010 season.   This coming Sunday, April 18th, starts it all off with a 1-hour practice for all divisions (major, minors, t-ball and intro to t-ball). Please see below about some very important announcements about this season and this Sunday's activities. Registration Still Open  We are keeping Registration open.  If you have not gotten in your registration forms and/or payment, please do so immediately.  We are holding off a few more days before finalizing team rosters.   Team rosters will be announced next week. Click here for registration form...  Opening Day Practice Opening Day is this Sunday, April 18th.    Opening day will be a 1-hour practice on a division by division basis (ie. all major leaguers together, all minor leaguers together, all t-ballers together, all intro to t-ballers together).    The majors will play on the North Field The minors will play on the South Field T-Ball will play directly behind Newfield School on the side towards the South Field Intro will play directly behind Newfield School on the side towards the North Field. SEE THE MAP OF THE NEWFIELD SCHOOL GROUNDS BELOW... We will have our official FCCJBL baseball caps for all the players.  This year's design is Black and Orange.   We will also have our 2010 coaches shirts. Time for our practice will be 1:30 to 2:30. Please arrive early to pick up caps.    There will be 1 equipment bag available for each division.  Coaches please check in with the Commish to pick up your division's equipment bag.  Team equipment bags will be distributed next week. Coaches Needed We'd like to thank the many volunteer coaches for 2010.  We still need a few  more for our teams across all divisions.  Please let the Commish know if you can help out. Emal the Commish at seth@fccjbl.org.
